DSMG - Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How much does Doggie Styles Mobile Grooming cost and do you accept credit cards?
A: Full service grooming prices start around $40.00 per dog, depending on the breed of dog. Please refer to the price list page. We accept cash and personal checks Only. Returned checks will be subject to a $30.00 returned check fee.

Q: Will my dog be comfortable?
A: My mobile salon is climate controlled with heat in the colder months and air conditioning in the warmer months. Your dog will always have a warm bath using my own fresh water supply. My grooming table lowers and raises to suit your pet's size, and I am a cage-free environment. I am committed to exercising only the safest practices when handling your precious pup. There is also a large window by the table so your pet can see his/her own yard and feel safe at home.

Q: Do you come into my home to groom my dog?
A: No. All grooming is done in our state-of-the-art mobile dog grooming salon. The salon is clean, heated and air conditioned.

Q: Will there be a mess in my driveway when you leave?
A: No! Our mobile unit contains "gray water" storage tanks for used bath water and an internal vacuum to collect all clipped fur, leaving your driveway free of waste or debris.

Q: Do I need to supply water or electricity?
A: Nope! My trailer is fully self contained! I have a 70 gallon water tank and an inverter!

Q: Does Doggie Styles Mobile Grooming service large breeds?
A: Yes! We can accommodate large dogs, but may need your helping hand. If your dog is very unwilling to be groomed at any point and shows aggression, I may turn them away for safety of both myself and your pet.

Q: How often should a dog be professionally groomed?
A: A good rule of thumb is every 4-8 weeks, considering your dog's individual lifestyle, coat type and condition. I am happy to recommend a regular schedule upon assessing your dog's personal grooming needs. Many dog breeds require regular brushing in between grooming for comfort and a healthy coat.

Q: My dog has a lot of mats (clumps of tangled fur); does she have to be shaved?
A: Depending on the severity of the matting, remedies range from combing to a full shave down. Severe mats can cause skin irritations like hot spots, dermatitis, sores and other problems. Trouble is often hidden under a badly matted coat, and should be addressed once uncovered. Though rare, cases of severe matting will be turned down for service to ensure the safety of the dog and owners will be advised to see their veterinarian.

Q: Is mobile grooming more expensive than taking my dog to a salon?
A: Typically my fees are $15 to $20 higher than salon prices. While mobile grooming is not for everyone, many people find the convenience and personal attention that they receive well worth the added cost. You are paying for the groom shop to come to you and your pet. This saves you the time of making two trips to a groom shop and reduces stress on your pet by not having to transport him/her. You are also paying for individual attention for your pet. Your pet is the only on in the mobile unit with me so there are few distractions and less stress.

Q: Do you groom cats?
A: I can do bath, nails and brush out only! I will not groom matted cats.

Q: How long does grooming take?
A: On average, appointments last between one and two hours. Dogs that have a long, matted, or dense coat may require a longer appointment.

Q: What areas do you service?
A: Most of Northwest Ohio. Including but not limited to, Fremont, Oregon, Bellevue, Clyde, Gibsonburg, Helena, Perrysburg, Genoa, Woodville and Elmore. Please refer to the service page for a detailed map.
